California State University - Fullerton offers emphases in entertainment studies, journalism, photocommunications, speech communication, radio, television, & film, and organizational communications. Chapman University teaches television and broadcast journalism, film and television producing, film production, and screenwriting. While these listed programs represent the county's great diversity in media programs, they are only a small sample of what is provided by the (over 80) colleges and universities in the area.
Statistically, broadcasting occupations in Orange County look great, just as good or better than any other place in the U.S. Between 2002 and 2012, media and communication workers are projected to see a 23.8% increase in demand, adding 870 jobs to employ a total of 4,520 individuals. Audio and video equipment technicians should see a similar rise of 23.9%, with 160 new jobs in the industry, and editors will see an 11.7% increase in their sector.
