Why Orange County is a Great Place to Study Nursing

Orange County is home to a diverse collection of communities, all of which are in need of nurses and other healthcare professionals. Like other states, California is facing a potential healthcare crisis as the state is projected to experience rapid growth in its elderly population, all as many nurses are retiring. According to the Bureau of Registered Nurses, over three-fourths of California RNs are age 40 or older and almost half are age 50 and older, with the average age just over 47 (five years higher than the national average). With double-digit nursing job growth predicted through 2012 and all types of nursing educational tracks available, there is abundant opportunity for those interested in nursing education and careers in Orange County.
