The University of California at Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts is considered first rate, not only for its commitment to training and performance, but also because it takes students into a serious study of the cultural, social, and emotional background of their performances for drama dance and music. Other programs in Orange County have lots to offer as well, including California State Fullerton's Theatre and Dance Department, where you can study acting, dance, musical theatre, playwriting, and production and design. Chapman University's Department of Theatre and Dance and Santa Ana College's Fine and Performing Arts Department don't skimp on the practical training and professional development either for music, dance, or theater.
Quite possibly because of all the excellent performing arts students who are produced in these schools, Orange County employment projections are on the rise. Through 2012, actors can expect 7.7% job growth; producers/directors, 17.1%; dancers, 15.4%; choreographers, an amazing 36.4%; and musicians and singers, 22.4%.
